Jackson County Schools Superintendent Blaine Hess has been elected as President of the West Virginia Association of School Administrators (WVASA) for the 2019-2020 school term. Mr. Hess currently serves as Vice President of WVASA and is serving his second term on the Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). Mr. Hess previously served as WVASA President in 2011-2012.
Mr. Hess has served as Superintendent of Schools since 2006. In March, the Jackson County Board of Education extended Mr. Hess’ contract as superintendent through June 30, 2023. Prior to his appointment as superintendent, he served in several administrative posts including Assistant Principal of Ravenswood High School, Principal of Ripley High School and as Director of High Schools and Vocational Education.
In addition to his responsibilities with AASA and WVASA, Mr. Hess also serves as Chair of the Roane Jackson Technical Center Administrative Council and on the Jackson County Development Authority. In 2013, Mr. Hess was selected at WV Superintendent of the Year.
